Catchfly - a misnomer, because the Bladder Campion does not, in fact, catch flies. But a good name, nonetheless: brings to imagination the idea of an oddly-specific medieval trade-type person, quick and nimble of limb, paid in silver coin, and befriender of toads. Perhaps..?! Anyway, this is a painting in which you’ll see detail again and again; a rich but very useable palette, with carefully balanced tones and hues.
